Murnane Brandt Successfully Defends Landowner in a Personal Injury Case

The Murnane Brandt trial team of attorneys Todd Koebele, Scott Williams, and paralegal Mary Buse recently won a defense verdict in a jury trial held in Martin County, Minnesota.
The plaintiff sustained a severe traumatic brain injury and numerous other injuries after he fell 18 feet through a skylight on the roof of a pole building while performing painting work at a farm property. The skylight in question had previously been covered with a rubber sealant and a paint product in an effort to stop water from leaking through the skylight. The plaintiff claimed that the existence of the sealant and the paint product made it impossible for him to see where the skylight was located. The plaintiff argued that the landowners breached a duty to warn him about the allegedly dangerous and concealed skylight on the roof. The plaintiff sought to recover more than $1 million in damages, including more than $250,000 in past medical expenses. The jury returned a defense verdict for the landowner.
