Katie Downey practices in civil litigation including employment law, product liability, negligence law and environmental law. She is admitted to practice in Minnesota and Wisconsin state and federal courts, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

Before joining Murnane, Katie was a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Mary E. Carlson, Tenth Judicial District in Stillwater, Minnesota. While in law school at the University of Minnesota she participated in civil rights moot court and was a student director of the civil practice clinic.

Katie has been named a Rising Star by Minnesota Law & Politics and is a member of the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association, the Ramsey County Bar Association, and the Minnesota State Bar Association. Katie was recently elected to the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association Board of Directors.

In 2001 she received her J. D. from the University of Minnesota School of Law. She attended the University of St. Thomas as an undergraduate and received her B. A., cum laude, in 1998 with a degree in Political Science and Economics.

In her free time, Katie participates in a book club and gourmet cooking club.
